Back in time for tea…

11 Apr

On weekends and holidays I like to brew one or two pots of hot tea over the course of a quiet day. Sharing a pot of tea with someone is a common experience that must go back centuries. As today’s second pot brewed, I got to thinking about having a ‘cuppa’ with someone. There is something calm and quiet about having a hot drink with someone. The conversation is always in depth, sometimes reflective and always feels like time is standing still. I compared this to having a beer or wine with someone. It’s a similar shared experience with the enjoyment and anticipation of having a laugh, getting nostalgic perhaps and developing that ‘buzz’ as you pour another glass or open another bottle.
Sharing company over a mug of tea is a similar experience yet not the same in many ways. I just know that when I sit down with my hands clasped around a hot mug, everything is quiet and safe for now…

So true! Sunday morning cup of tea is the greatest! Love knowing that there is another cup to be had. You have inspired me to post a tribute to my tea pot tomorrow. Never thought I’d say that…ever! Ha ha.

I recall a fact that tea has been used as a beverage as early as the 10th century BC. It would therefore be safe to assume that people have indeed shared their thoughts over the beverage for a very long time and I agree that sharing a hot beerage is one the best ways to reacquaint yourself with a friend. Not being a tea drinker, maybe next time I have coffee with a friend I will think of your post and try a tea instead.Keep posting.=)

Great thoughts guys! I got my love of having a cup of tea from my pa for sure. He used to always have his tea straight black. The best thing is that you can always make time for another cuppa. Now that I’m awake I might go and get a brew going…
