Not quite running on empty…

P468

It’s that time of year where weighty bills tend to arrive all at once. I feel like I’m just at the end of it all now. But after a long day and gazing at the fuel gauge on the way home it all came rushing back. I guess there’s always something.
Within an hour I had the iPad open with a gravy recipe displayed, vegetables sliced and oil warming in the pan.
Life’s concerns melted away for a time…

Coloured Sound!

P459

What are they called?
There were many of them; piled together haphazardly in a cardboard box. Each one a bright, striking colour. Their shape and design resembled that of a plastic vacuum cleaner tube. Yet they were extremely light and flimsy. If you held one in your hand and spun it around and around as fast as you could; it emitted a high whistling sound reminiscent of…nothing. We used it in a song tonight. But as the day concludes I still wonder…
What are they called?

A sunset of respite…somewhat.

P450

Sometimes one has a day where it is like floating in a tank of water with a lid and the water is rising. You only just keep your head above the surface until late in the day. The working day ended quite late today. As the sun was making its way down I had a small moment of quiet while waiting on an engagement in town. The setting sun and the church spire took my gaze for just a minute or two. HDR Pro really honoured the colours that you could see with the naked eye. Yet I was wondering how one could get rid of the red reflective blotch in the shot. Any iPhonography experts out there? Comments and suggestions most welcome.

A lemon or lime with your tree?

P440

We have much fruit ripening on our tree currently. Since I’ve lived down this way it has been quite obvious to me that my lemon tree is a grafted specimen and has a section of branches down below that produce limes…or so I thought. The last few ‘limes’ I’ve picked have been lemons not yet ripened. Time to reassess what I originally thought! Last week I found one lime on a low branch. Other people confirmed that it was a lime. But I am still unsure as to which part of the tree is pure lime. And now I am doubting my own knowledge as to whether lemon and lime trees can be successfully grafted!
What do you know about it? Comments and discussion welcome.

Sunday Breakfast Colours!

P429

After yesterday’s success and celebratory evening it was quite satisfying to have a slightly ‘dusty’ head this morning. Many a Sunday breakfast has consisted of eggs, bacon, hash browns and more…particularly after a jovial night before. This morning was a little different. We put together an array of fresh local ingredients to pile on top of fresh bread from a local baker. To top off the flavours, we added some local Drysdale goat’s cheese. We’ve been wanting to try some for a long time and finally found some at the local fruit and veg store. The cheese was as creamy and delicious as we could have hoped for.

To the victor go the spoils!

P420

Today was one of the special days. It was a pleasure to celebrate a premiership with the tennis boys and our favourite people. We dug deep and played our guts out…and it was worth it.
We found our favourite spot, clinked glasses and shared company.
